Prof.  Jörg Feldmann

Professor Jörg Feldmann, FRSC, FRSE is Chair of Analytical Chemistry and Head of the Institute of Chemistry at the University of Graz, Austria. Before moving to Graz in 2020, he was Professor of Environmental Analytical Chemistry at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland for more than 20 years, where he established and directed the Trace Element Speciation Laboratory (TESLA).

His research focuses on the development and application of advanced atomic and molecular mass spectrometric techniques for elemental speciation and environmental analysis. Particular interests include ICP-MS-based speciation and imaging, negative-ion ICP-MS, single-particle analysis, non-target screening, and the analysis and environmental fate of PFAS and other emerging contaminants.

He has published more than 400 papers in analytical and environmental chemistry and has received numerous international distinctions, including the European Award for Plasma Spectrochemistry, the RSC Interdisciplinary Prize and Medal, and election as Fellow of both the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. In 2027, he will receive the Ioannes Marcus Marci Medal for his achievements in analytical spectroscopy.
