Prof. Marco Aurélio Zezzi Arruda

Marco A. Z. Arruda is a Full Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. He currently serves as Deputy Executive Director of the University of Campinas Foundation (FUNCAMP) and coordinates the Sample Preparation, Spectrometry and Mechanization Research Group (GEPAM) as well as the National Institute of Science and Technology for Bioanalytics – Lauro Kubota (INCTBio-LK). He previously served as Director of the Institute of Chemistry (2018–2022) and as Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry (2014–2017).

Professor Arruda has held visiting professorships at the University of Pau and the Adour Region (France), the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain), and the National University of Cuyo (Argentina). Throughout his academic career, he has supervised more than 70 Master's, Ph.D. students or Pos-doctoral collaborators.

He serves on the Advisory Boards of Metallomics, Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry, and Journal of Integrated Omics, and is Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Analytical Chemistry (BrJAC).

Professor Arruda is a CNPq Research Fellow (Level 1A), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), and a member of the Brazilian Mass Spectrometry Society (BrMASS), the Brazilian Proteomics Society (BrProt), the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ), the Brazilian Chemical Association (ABQ), and the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) Committee on Nanotechnology.

He is the author or co-author of more than 320 peer-reviewed publications, 11 book chapters, and five patents, and has edited three scientific books. He has delivered more than 50 invited lectures at national and international conferences. His publications have received over 12,000 citations, with an h-index of 56 (Google Scholar), and he has been recognized with several national and international awards for his contributions to analytical chemistry.

His research focuses on bioanalytical chemistry, particularly speciomics, elemental and molecular mass spectrometry, atomic spectrometry, and advanced sample preparation strategies for biological, environmental, and forensic applications.
